Because of his new technique, an artist born in Rosario, Argentina, is becoming popular in galleries of Miami and the Cultural Fridays of CALLE 8 too. He paints with his fingers. To know more about his work and his life LIBRE newspaper interviewed him.

When I was four years old I started to study artistic painting. After eight years I was already a professor. At the age of eighteen I opened my own academy that unfortunately I closed a year later because the social situation of Argentina began to be tough. I got tired of the world, I bought a sleeping bag and I left.

- What did you do since that moment?
In recent years I made jewelry in silver, participated in fairs and painted in different countries. I also became involved in exhibitions, talks, courses and small artistic studios in several states, using traditional techniques with brushes, spatulas and on canvases.
- How did the idea of painting with your fingers come up?
I was living in Bariloche. I had finished an oil painting exhibition and I was working at the local fair during the winter season. There I met this Spanish man that used this technique. I was fascinated. During the next two or three days I locked myself into my apartment without seeing anyone and practiced by myself. Until today, I have never stopped painting with my bare fingers.
- How many paintings did you do using only your fingers?
About two thousand, from small ceramics to big oil painting.
- What is the prevailing theme on your ceramics or canvases?
When I am using this method I enjoy painting landscapes with mountains, lakes or Caribbean scenes. I also decorated hoods of cars for young people.

We can see Flavio painting every Cultural Friday of CALLE 8 right in front of the Tower Theatre. All the Spanish community is welcome to appreciate this curious and interesting work of a brush artist...sorry, finger artist.
